ROCKHAMPTON HOME SHOW & CARAVAN AND CAMPING EXPO + STITCHES, CRAFT AND HOBBY EXPO

ROCKHAMPTON SHOWGROUNDS

The Rockhampton Home Show is an annual, 3 day event held at the Rockhampton Showgrounds and combines home and lifestyle products, outdoor adventure gear and craft supplies to bring you one huge event with something to interest everyone.

Pfeiffer Park Alpacas will have a display of alpaca products for sale - yarns, fleeces, clothing, etc. The Stitches, Craft & Hobby Expo will be located centrally in its own separate pavilion - the James Pavilion.

The event will have an onsite food court, coffee shops, free kids rides and some great prizes to be won over the weekend. Heaps of free entertainment is also planned including cooking demonstrations with Tommo the Bush Cook and fishing demonstrations with Dave Moss at the giant Reef Science fish tank.

ART EXHIBITION - Hooked on Art, Rockhampton

Local artist June Taylor is displaying two alpaca paintings at this exhibition..... following a day spent earlier this year photographing alpacas on my farm.

This is the second exhibition in which June has displayed alpaca paintings..... and they sell very quickly, from what I understand.

WRAPT IN ROCKY - CQ Textiles Forum 2010

Follow your textiles passion all the way to Rockhampton. Get ‘Wrapt in Rocky” for a fabulous week long winter event in all things fibre and textile. Join in with the best textile tutors and students from across Australia. Challenge yourself and become totally immersed in your art.

Winter in the tropics is tempting isn’t it!

Wrapt in Rocky 2010 is an absolutely fabulous opportunity for textile and fibre artists to follow their passion. There are 13 fabulous workshops on offer under the inspiring direction of excellent national and international tutors. The week involves so much more than just classes with excellent traders on site, nightly tutor presentations, on site installations, a fabulous sellers bazaar and more. Wrapt in Rocky 2010 will be a fantastic regional forum with a unique Central Queensland flavour.

PFEIFFER PARK ALPACAS will have a trade stall at this event - display for sale: raw fleeces, commercially/hand spun yarns, hand painted buttons, alpaca clothing (felted / knitted) and more. We will even have a spinning demonstrator on some days.

To celebrate National Alpaca Week - Pfeiffer Park Alpacas will be open to the public on SATURDAY 08/05/10 and SUNDAY 09/05/10 (Mothers Day).

Alpacas are unique and beautiful creatures that are bred for their superior fleece.

There will be alpacas to touch, fleeces and yarn to feel and purchase, products to look at and buy and refreshments too.

Plenty of staff on hand to answer your questions about alpacas as pets/guards/breeding and stud stock. Lots of free information to take away for those interested in becoming alpaca owners or breeders.

Nerida Aldred is renowned throughout Australia as an expert in training and taming alpacas and their handlers! She is delivering a training package designed and approved by the internationally renowned alpaca expert Marty McGree. This is a two day course at a cost of $150 per participant, includes morning/afternoon tea and lunch.

TRAINING COURSE - Fecal Egg Counting by Barbara Mills of Pepperina Alpacas

Barbara Mills has developed a course using her laboratory background and assistance from organisations such as DPI Wormbusters to put together a very user friendly course outlining how to do your own testing and identification for worms in faecal matter using a microscope. This is something that all breeders should be able to do to quickly to identify and/or eliminate worms in alpacas.

Course cost is $80 per participant.
